Horizons of Human Security

The imperatives of human security and it's connect with conflict resolution has increasingly caught the fancy of development workers and security analysts the world over and India is no exception. The present book aims to explore human security and conflict resolution parameters and their possible bearing on concrete situations in the case of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The human security concerns not only relate to peace and development but are critical components of good governance as well. An analytical study of few select districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh promises to offer interesting insights and interconnections to enrich the existing discourse on human security and development. Though human security as an idea could be traced to ancient times, the recent coinage of the term human security owes its origin to the UNDP report of 1994 prepared by Mahbub-ul-Haq and others.
